Many of us get this question, especially when we are buying a new computer or laptop - why the hell are Apple products so expensive? When Dell laptops are available for like $499.99 why Apple MacBook Air costs $999.

Some may think because they are prettier. Obviously if you have to sit and look at an interface all day, anyone would prefer the prettier one. Well this is one of the many reasons which makes Apple products so expensive.

Lets see what makes the Apple laptops and computers so expensive -

1. Manufacturing Cost - Other companies use plastic for manufacturing hardware, but Apple uses stainless steal, aluminum and glass, which leads to substantial increase in production cost. But it adds to the durability of the Apple products.

2. Awesome Design - Here comes the prettier part, almost each one of us fall in love with Apple in first sight. Apple's Hardware and Software both have such awesome designs, which make them irresistible. Now, such great designers will have be paid good.

3. Free Softwares - Apple Mac Computers and Laptops comes some nice softwares that increases its productivity. These include - iTunes, iLife (iMove, iPhoto, iDVD, Garage Band and iWeb), Mail, Oxford American Dictionary, iChat, Widgets, Address Book, Automator, Art Directors Tool kit, Omnigraffle, OmniOutliner(usually standard on MBP), Sherloc and Comic Life. All of these are full working programs. If you were to buy these softwares for your Windows PC, you would have to shed hundreds of dollars.

4. The reason why you don't get viruses is because the viruses that infect Windows systems are .exe executable files. These .exes can only run in a windows environment, which Mac OS X does not have. There is no way OS X can read .exe files, so they can't exploit your system.
